Phuket is an idyllic island located in southern Thailand, renowned for its picturesque beaches, azure waters and lush landscapes. If you’re looking for a sunny, sandy and adventurous holiday destination, Phuket is the perfect place for you.

The island offers a wide range of activities, such as diving with SHARKS, kitesurfing, rafting, parasailing, jet skiing and more. You can also explore the surrounds by taking a 1-DAY TOUR to places like the JAMES BOND island or Khai islands.

What is the best time to visit Phuket?

The best time to travel to Phuket Island is during the months of November to May, as the rainy season has ended and the weather conditions are more pleasant.

In addition, the sea will be calmer and the waters more crystalline and that is ideal not only for bathing, but also for snorkeling and diving.

If you want to save some money, you have to know that the peak of the high season is in December and January, since many international holidays coincide and tourism increases. In these months the prices of hotels and plane tickets will be more expensive.

Nai Harn beach (Thailand)

I went to Nai Harn the day that I’ve visited Ao Sane beach since they are very close to each other. I stayed to see the sunset and the sight was priceless, the combination of the boats with the clouds and the light made me feel like in a dream.

Nai Harn is one of the main beaches of Phuket, but it is smaller and more relaxed compared to Rawai or Patong. You can easily get there with the local blue buses for only 40THB, and don’t forget ask the driver when is the last bus so you don’t miss it (it happened to me and it was not cool), but don’t worry, you can easily find a taxi or, as a a second option, you can talk to one of the bus drivers who have already finished working and, if he is in the mood, he may offer you a better price (that’s what I did, and I went back to Phuket Town as a local bus co-driver sticking my arm out the window, I loved it).

The beach is naturally divided in two areas: the part that faces the sea (in the first picture) and the section at the end of Nai Harn beach to the left (looking towards the ocean), as you can see on the picture above, the water enters towards the sand creating a small lake in a C shape. This, combined with the tropical vegetation, creates a very idyllic vibe. If you approach to the water, you’ll see that it’s full of snails, but like massively full, they are everywhere and are very pretty: quite large and the shell is spiral shaped, making a gradient from black to white, passing through garnet and brown.

When you get off the bus, if you feel like visiting it, there is a small temple close to the beach. Aesthetically it is very beautiful, but what caught my attention is seeing the monks doing their daily tasks, among brooms and chickens, or seeing the houses where they live. The day that I went, it was not possible to enter inside the temple, but it was already late, I do not know if it’s usually open to the public, but, anyway, it is interesting to visit it and it’s located next to the bus stop.

Have fun!

How to get to Phuket from Bangkok

There are three ways to get from Bangkok to Phuket: by bus or shuttle, or by plane.

Bangkok is 845km away from the center of Phuket. The journey takes about 12 hours by car, or 1 hour and 20 minutes by plane. Here’s more information about each option:

HOW TO GET TO PHUKET BY shuttle

The most comfortable and fastest option for traveling from Bangkok to Phuket is by SHUTTLE (👉price & schedule). They will pick you up at your hotel in Bangkok and take you to your hotel in Phuket.

If you are not staying in Phuket city or have decided to book a hotel on one of the island’s beaches, I recommend going by shuttle because it’s a long journey and you don’t want to be changing transport several times until you reach your accommodation.

In addition, the shuttle makes fewer stops and you can make the journey in about 12 hours (you will arrive sooner), and
you won’t have to share the space with a lot of people (like you do on buses).

where to stay

The most popular places to stay for tourists are Phuket city and Patong beach. I’ll tell you a bit about both of them and here you’ll find a 🏠10€/10$ DISCOUNT on ACCOMODATION.

Phuket city

This is an area with a lot of accommodations, from upscale hotels to hostels for backpackers, and a wide range of prices.

There are many bars to have a drink, restaurants, and several night markets. The buildings in the Old Town are very pretty, and it’s very pleasant to walk through their streets. The houses are full of colors, and the urban art is great–there are murals covering entire facades.

Although it’s a city that receives a lot of tourism, it’s not overwhelming or has lost its charm. In addition, it’s very well connected by public transport to reach the main beaches of the island, and to go to and from the airport for a very economical price.

Patong beach

This is a beach located southwest of the island. It is the focus of tourism in Phuket. It has many advantages, such as having many facilities (such as hotels, restaurants, tour agencies, taxis); but, like all very touristy places, it can be a bit overwhelming.

I recommend staying here if you want to have the sea close by, get massages on the beach, and enjoy the sunset and water activities like parasailing.

Tours & activities in Phuket

When it comes to beautiful islands in Thailand, Phuket is always at the top of the list. With its stunning beaches, adventure activities and delicious food, it’s no wonder why this island is such a popular destination for travelers.

While Phuket may be best known for its beaches, there’s so much more to this island than just sand and sun. From exploring the Old Town to learning to ride a JET SKI, there’s something for everyone in Phuket.

Here you’ll find a list of activities and tours to make the best of your trip.

Is it safe to travel to Thailand?

Thailand is a safe country to travel, although in recent years there has been an increase in robberies in Bangkok and the main tourist destinations. If you are a victim of robbery or accident, you should call the Tourist Police at 1155.

Remember to follow these recommendations:

  • If you’re being robbed, don’t try to fight back physically.
  • Also, don’t flaunt your wealth by wearing expensive jewelry or carrying designer purses.
  • It’s best to be cautious when you’re out and about, especially at night, and stick to well-populated areas.
  • Keep your valuables close to your body and out of sight to avoid being a target for thieves (your camera, phone,..).
  • And finally, don’t carry your backpack on your back where it’s easy for someone to snatch it; carry it in front of you or use a belt bag or cross-body bag instead.

It’s legally forbidden to speak badly of the monarchy. Any criticism or insult will be considered a crime and leads to a long stay in prison.

When organizing your itinerary, you should avoid border areas with Malaysia, Burma, Cambodia and Laos; and in particular Yala, Pattani, Narathiwat and Songkhla.

Attacks, territorial disputes, acts of violence, land mines, drug and human trafficking are common in these areas.

If you’re thinking about renting a car or motorcycle while you’re abroad, don’t leave your passport as collateral. If there’s any damage, the rental company could use it as leverage to get money from you.

Remember that the accident rate for motorcycles is very high, and many of them end in the death of the driver. Wear a helmet, always check that the brakes are in good working condition (most of them don’t stop well), and get TRAVEL INSURANCE.

Eating vegan in Thailand

It’s easy to find local restaurants in Thailand that serve vegetarian and vegan dishes. You shouldn’t have any problem eating vegan, although it’s better to ask before ordering. Fish sauce and oyster sauce are used as the base of many dishes.

In October, a religious festival that is characterized by vegan food takes place. You’ll see that the street food stalls are decorated with yellow flags with red letters. This is an indicator of vegan food (and it’s very yummy).

Here are three recommendations, and in this link you can read tips for traveling vegan.

  • Try to stay at hotels that are known for their vegan and vegetarian dishes. This is the best option and the most practical if you don’t want to have to worry about finding restaurants with vegan options.
  • Before going on a tour that includes a meal, always mention that you are vegan or vegetarian, so they can adapt the food.
  • Thailand is a country where you can find a wide variety of fresh products (fruits and vegetables) to prepare salads and fruit-based breakfasts.
  • In any city or town you go to, you will easily find a market or street vendor where you can do your shopping.

What to do near NAi Harn beach

Phuket offers many more beaches that are worth visiting during your trip. I name some of them below:

Kamala beach

Kamala beach is one of the primary beaches to visit while in Phuket. It is lengthy and has different areas, but what makes it more unique are all the little colorful boats that rest on the sand.

It is a good option to relax for a bit (you can get a massage right there) or as a stop for lunch (there are several restaurants) and then continue enjoying the beaches in the area.

Rawai beach

A lot of people go to Rawai beach for the food rather than the landscape. There are many stalls full of fresh seafood and fish next to the beach that will fill you up.

The procedure is as follows: you approach to choose the product, they weigh it right there, and then cook it in one of the restaurants in front.

If you like seafood and fish, it’s a fun and more interactive experience than simply going to a restaurant and ordering from the menu. You’ll also be able to see what they eat in Thailand and what the local species are there.

Yanui Beach

Yanui is a beautiful beach that has a very peculiar shape: it is made up of two beaches that join together in the shape of a V with an islet at the tip.

In addition to being easily accessible, on the way you will find a viewpoint where you can appreciate a panoramic view of Yanui and Nai Harn beach. It also has another advantage, and that is that it is a great place to practice snorkeling. There is a variety of fish and the waters have no currents that can drag you, but be careful with the sun that is very strong!
