Weissensee: a lake and park in the middle of Berlin

Weissensee lake is the perfect place to take a dip without too many complications or stroll through the park and have a picnic. It is very well connected, there’s a tram stop next to it and it is quite central. The water is not one of the most crystalline in Berlin but it is suitable for bathing and there are very nice spots, go for a walk around the lake and you will surely find a beautiful one.

There is also a small beach with sand, sun loungers and a couple of bars where you can buy chips, frankfurts and drink mojitos. The entry fee is 5,5€ and from 7 p.m. only 1€. During the day it is full of people, so I would advise you to go to see the sunset while drink a beer. Although in my opinion the other side of the lake is prettier.

The beach is the area at the right of the picture and the boats can be rented at the pier. The ducks invade the park and are not afraid of visitors, sometimes even swanscan be found and also groups of ducklings in breeding season.

You have different possibilities to get to Weissensee, by tram or bus, here you have a list:

  • Tram: 12, 27, 50, M1, M2, M4, M10, M13 (Falkenberger str. / Berliner Allee)
  • Bus: 156 (Falkenberger Str. / Berliner Allee)
